Many bins of this era that employed such either have cracks from normal usage, or are also missing. A cosmetic issue that does naught to effect function or views.
These are missing the cheap, thin plastic screw on front objective lens housing covers that had printing in white them. As these feature authentic Baku-4 prisms and fully coated lenses. Just awesome. With eye cups rolled down, the view is a bit wider.
Done no doubt to keep costs down while keeping optic quality very high. So clear, crisp, w IE, and 3d. At degrees, throwing these up to glasses with eye cups up, yields a standard bin fob. Had I not just acquired a 12 degree for the collection, these would've stayed put.
Here is an incredible ultra wide angle binocular produced towards the end of golden age Japanese production, probably early to mid 1970s, based on its fast focus wheel, and plastic prism covers. Some remove the eye cups and glue on rubber gaskets for full fob to protect glass lenses that scratch so easily today. Comes in the zippered case I got them with as shown. The views, especially after an internal cleaning and tweaking of collation, are simply breathtaking.
I use such optics by pushing my glasses up on head. The wow factor on these is off scale, folks.
