The objectives are also in really remarkable shape considering the age of bino that we estimate to be from mid late 1960s. No longer since the old grease was stripped off and NYE synthetic damping used for a lifetime of worry free use. Will let the new owner decide if they want a strap on well used leather covers case that was glued up rim near closure snap where it had torn. Views are now far crisper, brighter and richer than when we first received this set.
The focus controls worked but were, again typically, stiff. We added a strong black nylon web strap for the bino. Use care when opening and retrieving the binocular. Better yet, retire the case for display only and leave bino on a shelf with ocular lenses covered via original logo embossed lens caps to protect against dust accumulation near pristine condition.
Kevin MacDonald. Unless one scratches those beautiful lenses or catastrophically drops the bino, your great grandchildren will marvel over such an atavistic optical object that granddad once cherished and used. For they can be easily opened up for once a decade or two cleanings. Yes, they've survived six decades thus far and have centuries of life left in them unless new owners abuse.
Most others charge almost double our asking price just for a cleaning. For while they were out for cleaning of haze causing film that nearly ALL old optics develop over time, we blackened the sides all four BK-7 prisms. Thereby slightly increasing brightness and contrast from fully amber coated optics. No carry strap came with either the bino or case.
