I don't know what the ring is for. The other holds a small plastic ring.

Posting: this package will weigh about 3 pounds 12 ounces. The leather case is lightly shabby and it looks as if carrying strap was lopped off quite short reattached sometime in its long history. One receptacle is empty.

They work just as should - adjust smoothly and the optics are clear. They are of german manufacture and in their original case.

Some paint is worn off of the exterior. If you feel these binoculars do not specifically match my , just let me know.
